CHAPTER A: WHAT LOVE EXPLORER IS (AND ISN'T)
Love Explorer is a self-guided journey for couples: short daily steps, questions to answer together, reflections and a private journal to help you and your partner get to know each other better, have more fun and feel closer.
A Lens for Reflection: The planets, phases and themes in Love Explorer are a playful framework for conversation and reflection. They are not facts about you, your partner or your relationship, and they are not predictions about your future together. You are both always the authority on your own lives and choices.
Not Therapy or Counselling: The Services are educational and reflective. They are not couples counselling, therapy, mediation, or a substitute for professional medical, psychological or legal advice. Talking about your relationship can bring up strong feelings. If it does, slow down, take a break, and reach out to a qualified professional or someone you trust.
Your Safety Comes First: Love Explorer is not designed for relationships where anyone feels afraid, controlled or unsafe, and it is not a tool for resolving abuse. If you are worried about your safety, please contact a specialist support service, such as those listed in the app, or your local emergency services. Never feel you have to use the app, answer a question or share an answer because your partner wants you to.
The Companion uses artificial intelligence to write short reflections on your answers. Its replies are generated automatically. They may be imperfect, they can't know your relationship the way you do, and they are not professional advice.
Personal Features: Some lessons, extra steps and questions are chosen for you, automatically, from your onboarding answers and the choices you make in the app. Your Love Manual is a short summary of what you are learning about loving and being loved, written by artificial intelligence from your own reflections while the Companion is on. Like the Companion's replies, it may be imperfect and it is not professional advice.
CHAPTER B: YOUR ACCOUNT
Eligibility: You must be 18 or older to use the Services. By using them, you confirm that you are. Please only invite a partner who is also 18 or older.
Your Account: You sign in with your email address and password. Your account is yours alone, even when you are linked with a partner: please don't share your password with anyone, including your partner. Keep your devices secure, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account.
CHAPTER C: TRAVELLING TOGETHER
Linking With Your Partner: You can use Love Explorer on your own, or invite your partner to link their account with yours using an invite code or link. Each of you keeps your own account, journal, Companion replies and Love Manual. Linking only happens when your partner chooses to accept, and either of you can unlink at any time in Settings.
What Your Partner Sees: Some steps and questions are "for two". For these, your partner sees your answer, and you see theirs, once you have both answered (or, for steps where you take turns, after you've written yours). The app tells you before you answer when a step is for two. Your partner can also see your first name, whether you've done today's step, your shared streak, the love notes you send them and the mood you choose to share. Private journal entries, your Companion replies and your Love Manual are never shown to your partner. More detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Be Kind With What You Learn: What your partner shares in the app is shared with you in trust. Please don't copy, screenshot or share it with anyone else without their agreement, and never use the app to pressure, monitor or control your partner.
Inviting Your Partner by Email: If you give us your partner's email address, we send them one invitation email on your behalf. Please only do this if you know them and they would expect to hear from you. We don't send them anything else, and we don't keep their address.
Unlinking: When either of you unlinks, the link ends for both of you straight away. Each of you keeps your own answers, but you can no longer see each other's. Deleting your account also unlinks you.
Shared Access: Where the app says so, one person's subscription or add-on can also open the Services for their linked partner while you are linked. If you unlink, or the paying partner's subscription ends, the other partner's access through them ends too. They can subscribe on their own at any time.
CHAPTER D: USING THE SERVICES
Licence: We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Services for your own, non-commercial use, under these Terms.
You agree not to (and not to help anyone else to):
- copy, resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the Services or their content;
- modify, translate, or create derivative works from the Services, except as the law allows;
- decompile, reverse engineer or try to obtain the source code, except as the law allows;
- bypass or interfere with any security or access controls;
- use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to access the Services or copy their content;
- upload viruses or harmful code, or interfere with how the Services work;
- link with, invite or contact anyone who is under 18, or anyone who hasn't agreed to hear from you;
- use the Services to harass, threaten, monitor or control another person;
- share your account, or use the Services in breach of any law.
CHAPTER E: YOUR CONTENT AND DATA
Your Content: You own what you write in Love Explorer. You're responsible for making sure it's lawful. Take particular care when writing about other people, including your partner: answers to steps for two will be read by them.
Anonymous Insights: We create anonymous, combined statistics from how the Services are used, to improve them. These can't identify you, and we own them.
Keeping Your Content Safe: We encrypt data in transit and keep daily backups for disaster recovery. No system is perfectly secure, so please use Settings > Export to keep your own copy of anything important.
The Home Screen Widget: If you add the Love Explorer widget to your phone's home screen, it shows your next step, your streak and, if you're linked, your partner's first name, whether they've done today's step, their mood and the words of a recent love note. Anyone who can see your home screen can see it, so only add it if you're comfortable with that. You can remove it, or reset its private link in Settings, at any time.
The Quiz: Our quiz page is for adults 18 and over. Only use first names, and only send a quiz or a result to people you know. Anyone with a quiz's or a result's link can see it, so share links with care.
Beacons: You can share a beacon, a picture of your journey (your streak, steps or how often you and your partner matched), wherever you like. Please only include your partner's name if they agree. Once shared, a beacon is outside our control.
CHAPTER F: SUBSCRIPTIONS, ADD-ONS AND FEES
Payment: Subscriptions and add-ons bought in the app are processed by the Apple App Store, under its terms. Those bought on the web are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown before you buy.
Free Trials: If you start a free trial, your subscription begins automatically at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends.
Automatic Renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your App Store settings, or, for web subscriptions, by contacting us. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
Add-ons: Some extras, such as optional question packs, are one-off purchases. They belong to the account that bought them and, while you are linked, open for your partner too. You can restore an App Store purchase on a new device with "Restore Purchase". Add-ons are not subscriptions and do not renew. Some add-ons, such as After Dark, are about romance and intimacy: both of you choose whether to open them, and either of you can skip any question.
Your Right to Cancel: Under UK law, you normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital services or content. When you start using the Services or an add-on straight away, you agree to them starting immediately, and you acknowledge that you lose this right once they begin. For App Store purchases, refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. For web purchases, contact us and we'll treat any refund request fairly.
Price Changes: We may change our prices. We'll give you reasonable notice before any change affects your renewal, so you can cancel first if you wish.
CHAPTER G: OUR RIGHTS
The Love Explorer name, logos, lessons, questions, artwork, design and other content are our intellectual property, or used with permission. You have no rights in them beyond the personal use these Terms allow.
Feedback: If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve our Services without owing you anything.
CHAPTER H: YOUR MOBILE NETWORK
Your mobile provider's charges, such as data usage, apply when you use the Services. Your connection and device can affect how well the Services work.
CHAPTER I: IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS
1. Reflection, Not Prediction. The planets, phases and questions are tools for conversation. Please don't treat them as guidance for medical, legal, financial or other important decisions, including decisions about your relationship.
2. Not Medical Advice. Always seek the advice of a qualified health professional about any physical or mental health concern.
3. Your Relationship Is Your Own. You choose how to use the Services, and you're each responsible for the decisions you make, including how you use any AI-generated reflections. We can't promise any particular outcome for your relationship.
CHAPTER J: OUR LIABILITY TO YOU
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Nothing in these Terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
We provide the Services with reasonable care and skill. We can't promise they will always be available or free of errors.
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these Terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable, for business losses (the Services are for personal use only), for what another user (including your partner) chooses to do with what you share with them, or for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control.
Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Services in the 12 months before the claim arose, except where the law doesn't allow this limit.
CHAPTER K: ENDING THESE TERMS
You can stop using the Services at any time, and delete your account in Settings. Deleting your account unlinks you from your partner, but does not cancel a subscription: cancel it with the App Store or Stripe.
We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if we reasonably believe you are under 18, or if we need to in order to protect the Services, other users (including your partner) or the law. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and explain why. If we stop offering the Services altogether, we'll give you reasonable notice and refund any payment for a period you haven't received.
CHAPTER L: SANCTIONS
You confirm that you are not subject to UK, EU, UN or US sanctions, and are not located in a country or region subject to comprehensive sanctions. You will not use the Services in breach of those sanctions.
CHAPTER M: PRIVACY
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information, including what your partner can see. It forms part of these Terms.
CHAPTER N: GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTES
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you have a concern, please contact us first and we'll try to resolve it. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, Northern Ireland or the EU, you can also bring them in your local courts and keep the protection of your local consumer laws.
CHAPTER O: GENERAL
Transfer: We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation, and will tell you if this affects you. Your rights won't be reduced as a result. You may not transfer your rights without our written consent.
Entire Agreement: These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Services.
Severability: If a court decides any part of these Terms is invalid, the rest stays in force.
No Waiver: If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
Third Parties: Only you and we have rights under these Terms.
